Orange Inspired LO
Hey guys, here is one of my contributions to this months color challenge: ORANGE....
I used various shades of orange for this. I LOVE mixing pattern paper, especially different companies. Can't wait to see what you all are creating.

Orange=Fall
I am so excited to be on this side of the country for Fall. Alaska was beautiful but you had to be on top of things to catch the changing of the colors. Before you knew it it would snow and all the leaves would be gone.
I haven't done many layouts with orange so it will be a nice challenge. I look forward to seeing what you Ladies come up with.

Orange: Defined
Alright guys! It's time for a new color! This month we are going with my FAVORITE...well one of them...ORANGE!!
Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.
To the human eye, orange is a very hot color, so it gives the sensation of heat. Nevertheless, orange is not as aggressive as red.
Orange increases oxygen supply to the brain, produces an invigorating effect, and stimulates mental activity. It is highly accepted among young people. As a citrus color, orange is associated with healthy food and stimulates appetite.
Orange is the color of fall and harvest. In heraldry, orange is symbolic of strength and endurance.
Orange has very high visibility, so you can use it to catch attention and highlight the most important elements of your design.
Orange is very effective for promoting food products and toys.
Dark orange can mean deceit and distrust.
Red-orange corresponds to desire, sexual passion, pleasure, domination, aggression, and thirst for action.
Gold evokes the feeling of prestige. The meaning of gold is illumination, wisdom, and wealth. Gold often symbolizes high quality.
Go the distance with ORANGE. Hope you are inspired! I sure am! Be on the look out for more inspiration soon!

First, if you haven't seen Adrienne's and Ronalyn's layouts below, you need to check those out, just awesome
Okay back to my post
Today is July 09, 2007 at now we are well into the first month of the second part of the year, my question is, Where are you now?
When is the last time you did a layout that just displayed you life right now?
No elaborate photos, no crazy design, just a checkin sheet on you,, NOW.
Are you happy, are things going okay, are things not working out, what's going on with you.
Well, I'm working on mine right now, self portrait and all, why?
because it begins with me, every scrapbook, every note, every post and then everyone else.
Next topic,, PHOTOS, I hope you guys have been taking some beautiful photos since the summer has began, I just went around my apartment getting some ones with some green it, working on my angles, yada, yada, yada, lol
and tomorrow I will check in with the progress of my layout, maybe some journalling, you never know
Think Green.....
I promise, I can scrap everyday for the rest of my life and never have to buy any supplies. Seriously. I went waaaaaaaaaayyy back with some KI paper, Scenic Route, and some A2Z. I used MM velvet stickers, HS Frames, mailbox stickers, and ghost letters, and 7 Gypsies stickers. I even tried a little machine stitching, which was NOT easy on all that plastic....and don't worry, I did NOT use my good machine lol. My mom made me promise not to sew paper with it! Tee hee!
And a little closeup. As I said, my machine did NOT like the layers of plastic lol. My thread kept breaking lol.
Alright guys, let's get scrapping!!!!!!
Toodles!
Wear It.

GREEN DEFINED
It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money.
Green has great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye; it can improve vision.
Green suggests stability and endurance. Sometimes green denotes lack of experience; for example, a 'greenhorn' is a novice. In heraldry, green indicates growth and hope.
Green, as opposed to red, means safety; it is the color of free passage in road traffic.
Green is directly related to nature, so you can use it to promote 'green' products.
Dull, darker green is commonly associated with money, the financial world, banking, and Wall Street.
Dark green is associated with ambition, greed, and jealousy.
Yellow-green can indicate sickness, cowardice, discord, and jealousy.
Aqua is associated with emotional healing and protection.
Olive green is the traditional color of peace.
GO GREEN GO!!!! I'm getting excited! LOL

on sale at the market this week...
there is something about corn on the cob, that brings up so many memories of summertime BBQs. I mean for real, cause at a good ole fashioned BBQ, corn is usually the only veggie there.
I like to cook mine with a little bit of salt and suger in the pot. When they are done, I drain the pot, and then I add more butter and some more salt and sugar, while still in the hot pot. HMMM HMMM GOOD.
I don't see corn on the cob much during the winter months, so its always a treat when the weather is warm!
...and all this to say, don't forget to scrapbook those summertime memories!!! They will be good to have when the winter hits...

My super late intro and a project to share...
I know I'm quite a bit late in posting an intro, but here I am at last. The fabulous Adrianne and Toya came up with this wonderful Scrapalong idea. What better way to share than to let everyone who wants to participate join in the fun? I think it is wonderful how these two young, creative souls, are always so willing to create ways to let everyone feel included. So thank you both for starting this great new blog!
Now, who am I? My name is Maria. I am the mother of a 10 year old adorable girl who gives meaning to my life. That 10 year old child is also the reason why I started scrapbooking a decade ago. From the minute she was born, I became obsessed with the idea of recording memories in every way possible. I have always loved to journal and take pictures, but the idea of putting it all into scrapbook pages was born when my daughter came into this world. The rest is history.
Scrapbooking has become a part of my every day life. And now I have also been an avid blogger since the Summer of 2005, I have been teaching scrapbooking classes at my LSS since the Fall of 2005 and most recently, in May 2007, I became one of my LSS' creative team members. I also work full time at a law firm as a Paralegal and have a two hour daily commute to work. This may explain why it's taken me this long to get it together so I could post my fist entry into the Scrapalong blog.
So my entry for today will be a layout with some of my favorite subjects...my garden babies, my flowers. I was inspired by the People's magazine ad for their "Most Beautiful People" edition. I just used the concept to feature the "Most Beautiful Flowers." Hope you like it!

I'M A BAD, BAD SCRAP-A-LONG-ER!!!
hey ya'll, my name is elizabeth and i'm *so* sorry that it has taken me this long to drop in and introduce myself.
but rest assure, i've been stopping by and getting all inspired by all the beautiful yellow that has been shown.
so i guess ya'll would like to know a lil bit more about me.
again, my name is elizabeth, i'm married to a fab-boo man who puts up with ALOT...lol. i have two lil bug-a-boos, mikey and bella. i live on the gulfcoast of mississippi and greta and i are the bestest of friends. we are almost done building our dream house and i can't wait to get my new scrappy/crafty room all organized and ready to be worked in.
i have been crafty since i was a lil girl. i couldn't imagine living life without some sort of craftiness in it. i started scrappin' about 7 years ago and have been hooked ever since. i think my favorite part (aside from the tension/stress reliever it provides for me) is the fondling and buying of scrappy goods! i also like to knit (but i only know one stitch ;), cross stitch, sew (again, my skills here are limited), make jewelry bits, paint, draw, the list goes on and on.
i'm also addicted to junkin', thriftin', and antiquin'. i collect childrens vintage books, fabric, and anything else that catches my eye. i love things with birdies and owls on em and love the color blue right now.
i guess that is about it for now or ya'll would get the novel version ;)
i'm really excited to participate in this and can't wait to be inspired.
oh, before i forget, here is my contribution for this week.

Play Tards..wanna?
Not exactly how i envisioned it but win some you lose some.
How appropriate this is about cards with a statement like that huh?
For as long as I can remember I would get up in the morning or from a nap or just because and ask my paw paw to play "tards". I was about 2 when we started playing.
He started me out small with GO FISH, OLD MAID, CRAZY 8's...well you get the picture..by the time I was 5 i was kickin it with the rummy 21. It got to the point where he was bound and determined he was going to beat me..but rarely did...and no he wasn't letting me win. He created a monster. So from then on I was also known as greta the card shark. I miss him dearly

Header Inspiration
I love the title Toya came up with. "Enigma" is a paradox, a riddle, something hard to comprehend. In many ways similar to the color yellow. The uses of it are really all or nothing. Caution signs are covered in yellow used as preventive measures. But this month I encourage you guys to take yellow and test it to it's limits. Take a look around and see what this color means to you, most importantly how it inspires you. And don't forget to post it here! Enjoy your weekend!
Yellow Defined
Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy. Yellow is often associated with food. Bright, pure yellow is an attention getter, which is the reason taxicabs are painted this color. When overused, yellow may have a disturbing effect; it is known that babies cry more in yellow rooms. Yellow is seen before other colors when placed against black; this combination is often used to issue a warning. In heraldry, yellow indicates honor and loyalty. Later the meaning of yellow was connected with cowardice.
Use yellow to evoke pleasant, cheerful feelings. You can choose yellow to promote children's products and items related to leisure. Yellow is very effective for attracting attention, so use it to highlight the most important elements of your design. Men usually perceive yellow as a very lighthearted, 'childish' color. Yellow is an unstable and spontaneous color, so avoid using yellow if you want to suggest stability and safety.
Light yellow tends to disappear into white, so it usually needs a dark color to highlight it. Shades of yellow are visually unappealing because they loose cheerfulness and become dingy.
Dull (dingy) yellow represents caution, decay, sickness, and jealousy.
Light yellow is associated with intellect, freshness, and joy.
Now, go...create, with yellow!
Keynotes: Project Yellow Enigma
But of course all good things must come to an end, so we can press on and start anew.
So, now we are starting a new journey and this time we are going somewhere that "most" scrappers don't like to venture. "We" are going to step lightly into the Yellow abyss, a color that is so bright, so bold, so "difficult" that its usually the last piece of cardstock you will ever pick to buy or even worse, SCRAP.
"Oh gosh, I hate yellow", "I just can't work with it", "I forgot that color even exist"... you can add your own quote to the list in the comment box, lol.
Ronalyn has blessed us with a new banner which will be up in a few, Adrienne will be gracing us with the meaning of Yellow to get us going and I look forward to everyones take on it, lots of reviews, photos, layouts, just general thoughts, please share.
Last month was so wonderful, so many inspiring layouts, all of which just put a big ole smile on my face everytime I came to this blog, gosh,, this is just a good thing.
So, wipe the slate clean, its time to go to the unknown project Yellow Enigma is now in full effect.

MM Textured tape
MM eyelets
Digital brushes from Designer Digitals
Fonts: Suzie's Hand and Journaling Hand
Oh, and I've been scrapping like crazy!!!!
Journaling reads: I had so much fun working on this LO. Jaelyn was scrapping with me and she was going through all my old stuff and pulled out eyelets. WOW. How long has it been since I used thouse? Seeing as how I have three zillion of them, it kinda wouldn't hurt to use a few on this! I didn't realize until this scrapalong started just how much red stuff I have. I mean, I know I like the color, but dang? From my crumpler camera bags, to my GAP RED bag, my suitcase, another red bag I carry and my dress form. I guess red is HOT! I know I like it. Can ya tell?
